those bikes are junk. I bought one from Walmart and everything went bad with it. I hit a pot hole with it not long after I bought it. Snapped the front fork. Popped the tire. Rode it on the flat for a month before the tire shredded. Put a different mongoose tire and tube on. Took it to a bike trail and jumped a ledge on it. rear suspension snapped and bent the hell out of the back wheel and popped the tire. I stepped on the rear wheel and tire and bent the rim back into shape. Hopped on it and rode it home and the chain slipped off and got wedge down between bottom sprocket and the frame dropout. So I had to fix that. Left the rear tire flat and continued to ride on it. Tire came off the rim and bulged the tube out. It caught the brake pads and snapped the arm off and wrapped the tube around the hub. Was still able to ride the bike. Rode it like that for another month before the bearings went of the back wheel and locked it up. Put a different back rim on it. Still used the original back tire(d idn't shred it)so I continued to use it. Then I went to shift to a different gear and heard a snap. Spring broke on the derailuer and causes it to go over into the spokes. It threw me off the bike. Bent the hell out of the spokes and wheel. I had to get the derailuer replaced, and readjusted. Rode it a week and the front 3 piece crank assembly snapped. I found a 2 piece crank and put it on. Ride it a day and front derailleur breaks. I thought the hell with this piece of shit bike. I scrapped it out.Got $10 for the whole bike. Found a 23 year old American made Huffy mountain bike at a yard sale for $25 and had it several months and no trouble with it at all.

  5. I have one I love my bike is so good I can go any were with that

  6. his at a store dislike

  7. Ok bro your the first guy who i must i love how you talk! yes im a guy but thats beside the point… You do have a really good video but i must urge caution with this bike it self. I have been repairing this one bike now twice with in three months the shifters went out, and the rear casett has blown out the first two months… The tires do not last very long at all and has only been riden under five miles a day. and yet had to replace them for the first time just with in the first month and a half, this said if i where you i would get some new tires and replace them just as they show wear.. The peddles are junk so get rid of them get some metal peddles which will work just fine for you. The shifters are CRAP, get them replaced with some thing like trigger shifters for easy breaking and shifting.

  8. wow. what a crappy bike.

I have the 27.5 version . I upgraded my tires into fast track level 2 with thorn resistance tubes with the gel cover to protect the tube . Its a good starter mountain bike . I ride mostly desert dirt roads and pavement in Arizona . Looking forward to to upgrade the fork . Got it at walmart for $126 because it had a few scratches got a 10% discount . Thank you for the video .

  11. Just purchased the red/grey version of this bike. Hopefully it will hold me over until I can get a Trek. I am a novice trail biker who just went through a Kent "Trail Blaster" who is just looking for a quick and better replacement until I can get a more intermediate bike. Saw the disc brake version of this for $175 but decided to opt for this one instead. Thanks for the detailed review!

There are NO mountains near Ashtabula, OH. It is on Lake Erie. I have no interest in going on mountain trails with it. I got this to tool around town on, and to tow a trailer, I am going to get from Amazon next month for groceries, laundry, etc… My loony, young, downstairs neighbor sold it to me for a flat $80 with a kryptonite lock last night, practically unused, because he is obese and is not comfortable on it. I however am 170 lbs. I haven't had the chance to put it thru it's paces yet. I will in the next few days, give a report. I could not pass it up for that price. It ranges from $130 on sale at Walmart to $190 on Amazon. I am wondering why all the Mongoose bikes get such shitty reviews. A cheap bike is a cheap bike. Is this really worse than say a Huffy at the same price?

  14. DONT BUY BIKES AT WALLMART, TARGET ETC. THEY SUCK instead get a bike a dicks or online bikesdirect.com

  15. I just bought this same exact model yesterday at walmart. For the price it is an excellent bike. Took it put for a spin the day I got it with no problems. Though you do hear some clicking when gears are switch that seem to stay with you as you ride but as u adjust the gears if you hear it click the left handle once or twice more and it goes away. The seat is extremely uncomfortable. But there is an easy enough solution to that. Buy a different one or a cover. Great bike and I love the colors.
